Fobos – version 1.1 now available – new platform functionalities based on feedback from therapists

We are pleased to announce that new functionalities and improvements have been made available today to users of the Fobos application – a tool supporting exposure therapy using virtual reality (VR). The list of changes and implementations fully aligns with the feedback from our users and collaborating therapists. We invite you to explore the platform’s improvements.
Implementation of the relaxation module

The relaxation module was one of the main needs of the therapists we work with. It includes three relaxation environments in the form of 360° videos, allowing Patients and Clients to prepare for anxiety exposure. Additionally, this module functions independently, without the need for exposure sessions, which allows Fobos to be used not only in situations requiring work with anxiety but also in other therapeutic circumstances. In the first implementation, we have made three relaxation modules available – we will be implementing more in subsequent updates, based on our users’ experiences with the module.
EMDR adapted for the VR environment (beta)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a modern psychotherapy method based on bilateral stimulation (e.g., eye movements), which helps the brain process difficult memories related to trauma, reducing their negative impact on the psyche. Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, this method is effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, depression, and other problems, and its effectiveness is confirmed by numerous scientific studies and recommendations from leading mental health organizations, such as the WHO. As part of the Fobos platform, we have implemented a version of the tool dedicated to the VR environment that enables EMDR sessions. This is a beta version of the solution, so we have intentionally blocked the ability to connect with a patient – to first provide the solution to therapists for testing in a safe environment.
Optional ability to disable attention sensors and an improved user tutorial

Based on feedback from our users, we have introduced the option to disable attention sensors during a session. The monitoring of this parameter remains at the discretion of the therapist or doctor as an option. This function is available in the user’s profile settings. Based on this, we have also updated the tutorial, introducing an appropriate update.
Summary – next steps in the development of the Fobos platform
The improvements introduced in version 1.1, such as the relaxation module and the virtual reality EMDR tool, demonstrate that the Fobos platform is dynamically evolving in response to therapists’ needs. Thanks to these innovations, Fobos strengthens its position as a versatile tool that not only supports anxiety therapy but also offers a broader spectrum of possibilities, enabling a comprehensive approach to psychotherapy and significantly expanding its practical applications.
