Fobos Platform Update — June to August 2026

Over the past three months we worked on captions, accessibility, video quality, and support for Apple devices. A number of smaller fixes landed in the app as well. Here’s what changed on the user-facing side.
Captions in VR
Every piece of content on the platform now has English and Polish captions. Captions display inside the VR experience, not only in the browser window.
Two modes are available:
- Docked — captions stay anchored to a fixed point in the scene,
- Follow — the text moves with your head.
Docked works well when you want to look around freely. Follow keeps captions in view regardless of where you’re looking.
Accessibility
We ran an accessibility audit of both the website and the application against WCAG 2.1 AA and the ADA, then implemented the fixes it produced. The changes covered contrast, keyboard navigation, interface element labeling, and screen reader support.
U.S. version
We prepared a separate build for the U.S. market: MM/DD/YYYY date format, 12-hour time with AM/PM, +1 phone number formatting, imperial units, and a dedicated language version.
Video quality and the iOS player
We changed our video encoding configuration and reviewed all content on the platform against the source files. The image is sharper, particularly in scenes with a lot of detail and motion.
The VR player now also runs on iOS — in cardboard mode, in Safari, Edge and Firefox, with lens and IPD calibration. We tested on iPhone 12 and 15, and confirmed that the Android version works unchanged.
New categories and content
The library gained five categories: Exotic Animals, Fear of Heights, Fractals, Outer Space, and Lighting Effects.
We added new footage to fill them: three spider experiences, two snake experiences, and a series of psychedelic material covering fractals and outer space.
App fixes
- A Dashboard button in the navigation — return to your home panel from anywhere.
- „Start VR” no longer auto-plays the video — you choose when to begin, after putting the headset on.
- Exiting VR or fullscreen mode stops playback.
- An integration scale before Experiences content.
- A simplified „Continue session” panel — your most recent session shows by default, the rest sit under a dropdown.
- Automatic logout after a period of inactivity (5 minutes on the U.S. build).
- The „Let me help you” chat widget has been removed from inside the app. It remains available on fobos.tech.
Statistics panel, website, and security
The statistics panel went through a round of fixes and testing — usage data is more accurate and easier to read. We’re still working on the precision of login counting.
We launched a new fobos.tech homepage. We also tightened the security layer: data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access events are recorded in an audit log available to facility administrators.
What’s next
We’re finishing work on the statistics panel, expanding the library across the new categories, and preparing the next stage of the platform for institutional partners.
